Library Circulation Assistant


Chester Public Library seeks a dynamic, detail-oriented, people person to join our staff as a circulation assistant.  The Circulation Assistant provides a friendly welcome and high quality service to library visitors, and handles a variety of circulation and clerical tasks related to the operation of this small community library: checking materials in/out, managing reserves, answering or referring reference questions, answering phone, shelving library materials, registering new patrons, managing overdues, performing data entry, opening and closing the library. Qualifications: The successful applicant will be committed to the importance of the library in the community and will be able to: work Saturdays and evenings with flexibility to work at other times. Work independently and handle multiple tasks in a busy environment. Relate to library users of all ages. Learn automated library system. Climb stairs while carrying library materials and work while standing for extended periods.  Prior library experience and familiarity with library technology are a plus.
