Library Director - Wheeler Library, North Stonington

The Board of Trustees of Wheeler Library is seeking a full-time, hands-on Library Director for a busy association library in North Stonington, CT, serving a close-knit community of approximately 5200 residents. The library is the heartbeat of our town, offering a welcoming space for patrons of all ages who are looking for great books, engaging programs, and a quick chat with the staff.

The Library Director is responsible for the overall administration, leadership, and day-to-day operations of the library. Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support a dedicated team of seven part-time staff to deliver outstanding service and programming.
  • Develop and manage the annual operating budget; present budget proposals to the Boards of Selectmen and Finance.
  • Plan and execute annual fundraising efforts, including the Annual Appeal and grant writing.
  • Maintain and develop the library’s collection and services in alignment with community needs and current best practices.
  • Oversee building operations, facilities maintenance, and vendor coordination.
  • Serve as the public face of the library—assisting patrons with book selection, research inquiries, and everyday technology support.
  • Foster strong community relationships and actively advocate for the library’s mission and services.

Preferred Qualifications include:

  • A Master’s Degree in Library Science or the equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution.
  • Minimum three years of library experience, including staff supervision.
  • Strong budgetary skills with a working knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and auditing.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

This is a salaried full-time position with a six-month probationary period. Salary is competitive and dependent on the candidate's level of experience and qualifications.

Position Summary: The Librarian performs a broad range of professional responsibilities of librarianship in the library or learning resource center of a Community College, providing library services to students, faculty, and citizens of the communities served by the College. Senior Library Assistant: Project Lab (Makerspace), FT – Bethel Public Library

The primary responsibilities of this position are to work in the Project Lab (Makerspace); providing public access to the equipment and space, and programming to the public.   • Compile and submit pension contributions and information to TIAA-CREF.
  • Coordinate with Facilities Manager on building supplies, maintenance, and repair projects and coordinate building service and maintenance contracts.
  • Attend Building & Grounds Committee meetings to provide reports building projects and needs.
  • Attend Town of Branford Safety Committee meetings.
  • Assist Library Director as needed and assume responsibility in her absence.

Education and skills: A Bachelor’s Degree in finance or accounting is required. Minimum of two years’ accounting experience, preferably at a library or nonprofit organization. This position demands accuracy and the ability to multi-task. Experience in accounting procedures and related software is needed, including QuickBooks and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of human resources, benefit plans, insurance and budgeting is strongly recommended.

Hours: 40 hours per week, full-time, non-exempt position with a generous benefits package, including medical, dental, and paid time off. Salary range: begins at $80,000 per year, depending on experience.

Part-Time Teen Services Librarian - Farmington Libraries

Music & Audiovisual Archivist - Wesleyan University

The Wesleyan University World Music Archives (WMA), part of the World Music Archives & Music Library, is a research and teaching collection of over 20,000 rare or unique audio and video recordings and other documents and objects, reflecting music making as social and creative practice across the world. From its roots as an ethnomusicological teaching collection of Native American music, it has expanded to include significant holdings in musical traditions from South Asia, Southeast Asia, Central Asia, West Africa, Southern Africa, and the British Isles, as well as jazz, experimental, and traditional music from North America. In coordination with the Music Department and Arts Production, it also serves as the repository for recordings of music-related events on campus. Formats in the WMA include audio and video recordings on a wide variety of analog and digital media, manuscripts, printed documents and scores, ephemera, and photographic materials.

Reporting to the Director of the World Music Archives & Music Librarian, the Music & Audiovisual Archivist will manage daily operations of the WMA and ensure quality control in processing digital and physical materials. They will oversee workflows and student staffing related to the development, maintenance, and accessibility of materials in all formats held by the WMA. Additionally, they will manage processing and digitization of audiovisual and music materials in Wesleyan's other Unique Collections. Library staff work collaboratively, and this position will actively engage with staff across the library and the university to meet the responsibilities of this position and to contribute to the Libraries' overall success.

Compensation: $61,300-$72,300
