Computer Lab Assistant (Part-Time) - West Hartford Library

Job Summary: The West Hartford Library is looking for a tech-savvy individual to help staff our busy computer lab at our main library. Our computer lab assistants monitor the lab which includes 18 Windows 10 computers and an all-in-one scanning station. This position involves helping patrons log into our computers using our print/time management system, helping patrons print as well as helping patrons with basic computer tasks.

Basic Qualifications: Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, Adobe .pdf reader and Windows. Ability to learn a print/time management system to add money to patron’s accounts, reprint jammed print jobs and extend time on computers. Ability to answer basic computer questions. Knowledge of Firefox, Chrome, and Edge. Basic printer and scanner troubleshooting skills and ability to add paper and toner when needed. Good communication skills and friendly attitude is a must as this requires working very closely with our patrons.

Library Director - Durham Public Library

The Durham Public Library seeks an innovative, flexible, client and community focused, and experienced leader to serve as its next Library Director. The mission of the Durham Public Library is to provide ideas, knowledge, and enjoyment that promote community growth and enrichment.

The Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of library operations, including budgeting, personnel management, program development, and strategic planning. Library Director - Abbott Library, Sunapee, NH

Description: The Abbott Library located in Sunapee NH, a small New England town that enjoys proximity to Lake Sunapee and Mount Sunapee, is seeking an innovative, energetic, experienced and future-ready library professional to provide leadership to its vibrant community library. The Director will oversee a staff of thirteen employees (6 FTE equivalent). This staff includes a full-time Assistant Director, Technology, Youth and Children’s Librarian, and Public Services Librarian as well as several part-time staff. In addition, the library enjoys the support of more than 1300 hours of volunteer service each year. The Director is also responsible for administration, management, (including fiscal oversight) and advocacy for the library. The ideal candidate is a strategic problem solver who is flexible, positive, creative, patient, decisive, and technologically adroit. Additionally, the ideal candidate has demonstrated success aligning people, process and technology; excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal and customer relationship skills; and is committed to outstanding patron service. The library serves a community of approximately 3400 year-round residents and a large seasonal community. It operates with an annual budget of $600,000. The construction of the library building was completed in 2014, and it offers meeting rooms for library and community use, a fireplace, comfortable seating, and a beautiful view of Mount Sunapee.

The Director will work closely with the Board of Trustees, the Friends of the Library and the Abbott Library Foundation to raise funds and advocate for the library. In past years, these organizations have contributed approximately $50,000 annually in additional funding for the library.

The salary for this position is $75,600 - 109,304 with an excellent benefits package including health and dental insurance, short-term and long-term disability and participation in the New Hampshire Retirement System.

Director of Library Services – Plainville Public Library

The Town of Plainville is seeking an experienced, community-oriented, visionary leader for the full time-position of Library Director. Candidates must be well-informed and experienced with current and emerging library trends and technologies, as well as current best practices in public library services.

The Town of Plainville is home to 17,525 residents, covers an area of 9.8 square miles and is located in Hartford County, between Southington and Farmington, and 14 miles southwest of Hartford. The town has a diverse business base, three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. Plainville has a town manager-town council form of government. The Library Director will report to a library board of six, elected by voters for 6-year terms. The Director also reports to the Town Manager.

The mission of the Plainville Public Library is to provide excellent service to meet the educational, informational, and cultural needs of Plainville’s citizens through its collections and programs. The library was expanded in the last decade making the building a total of 13,652 square feet while restoring the 1931 section of the library featuring marble fireplaces, oak bookcases and pillars, and comfortable seating. The Director will manage a $750,000+ budget, supervise 7 full-time staff and 6 part-time staff in a library facility with stack space for 128,000 books, over 90,000 volumes, a growing collection of downloadable materials, a digital collection, three meeting rooms, 15 computers available for public use, and a colorful, spacious Children’s Room located on a separate floor. The library has recently adopted a three year strategic plan.

  • A Master’s Degree in Library Science.

Statement of Duties: Under the general direction of the Senior Computer Technician, the Computer Technician is responsible for providing ongoing technical support of information systems and processes that are critical to the services and operations of the library.

Part-time Computer Technician – Danbury Library, City of Danbury

Part Time Librarian, Technical Services - Windsor Public Library

The Windsor Public Library is seeking a knowledgeable, part-time librarian to work in our busy technical services department. Responsibilities include copy cataloging of children’s print materials.

Adult Services Librarian I – John C. Hart Memorial Library, Yorktown, NY

Librarian I (Adult Services) is a full-time position at the John C Hart Memorial Library (Yorktown, NY) a busy municipal library with forward momentum. We serve a population of almost 47,000 people in the towns of Yorktown and Cortlandt, circulating over 300,000 items per year. We are looking for a person who is energetic, a solid team player and has a passion for the field. Current salary range according to our CSEA union contract for 2024 is $68,580 - $82,297.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collection Development and Management: perform varied and/or specialized professional library work in collection development, including acquisition, evaluation and selection, discarding, weeding and withdrawal of library materials.
  • Research and provide content for reader’s advisory, ready reference, and patron services.
  • Plan and implement programs such as book groups, workshops, author talks, and other activities to connect residents with library resources and build community among adults and seniors. Backs up team members, and assists others as needed.
  • The candidate should be current on library trends and technology. They should be active in professional associations, system meetings, and career development opportunities. Knowledge of Google Drive, Canva and Zoom is a must.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND ATTRIBUTES: Thorough knowledge of modern principles and practices of library science, good oral communication skills and the ability to carry out assignments independently. Able to perform the essential duties of the position, tact and courtesy in dealing with staff and public. Requires strong proficiency with technology, ILS, and digital resources for library patrons. Strong initiative, creativity, and a positive attitude. Ability to effectively organize time and resources; aptitude with administrative systems (Google, Canva, Zoom, websites). Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Master's Degree in Librarianship from a school that is accredited by the American Library Association
