Adjunct Instruction Librarians - Sacred Heart University, Fairfield

Adjunct Instruction Librarians - Sacred Heart University's Ryan-Matura Library seeks adjunct instructors to teach sections of a one-credit course, Information Literacy 101, for the Fall 2007 and/or Spring 2008 semesters. IL101 is a required competency course under the University's new core curriculum. Responsibilities include: Teaching IL 101, a general education course focusing on the access, retrieval, evaluation and management of information. It includes a basic introduction to the Library's suite of research databases. Each section will meet 8 times over a seven week period - 7 times on-ground and once online. Each on-ground meeting is 75 minutes in length. Sections will be scheduled to meet in either the first half of the semester (for example, Sept. through late October) or the second half of the semester (late October through early Dec.). Classes are scheduled from Monday to Thursday between 9:00am and 7:00pm, and capped at 20 students. All course materials: syllabus, examinations, homework assignments and final project, have been designed and tested. Instructors will be thoroughly oriented and provided instruction in the use of the Blackboard classroom support system. Qualifications: Certified Library Media Specialist or MLS is required. Qualified teaching experience in lieu of LMS/MLS credentials will be considered. Experience in academic libraries and classroom instruction are preferred.
