RESPONSIBILITIES: As part of the library's public services division, reporting to the Head of Public Services, the incumbent of this position participates in planning, coordinating and delivering interlibrary loan and document delivery services and in the development, promotion and delivery of resources, services and programs that enhance library support for the university's instructional and research missions in conjunction with the library staff as a whole. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND ABILITIES: 1. Provide reference desk and/or circulation desk service 6-12 hours per week, including back-up support for Access services as needed. 2. Plan, manage and recommend policies, procedures, services and enhancements in interlibrary loan and document delivery and participate in the delivery of those services. 3. Supervise, train, and evaluate regular staff assigned to interlibrary loan and document delivery. 4. Coordinate hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of student assistants assigned to interlibrary loan and document delivery. 5. Keep statistics describing the use of interlibrary loan and document delivery services, and assist library administration in the preparation of various reports requiring those statistics. 6. Provide user education/information literacy instruction and serve as a liaison to an academic department for purposes of collection/resource development and user education/information literacy instruction. 7. Work collegially and effectively with the library's professional and support staff as part of the library team. 8. Keep abreast of current trends in interlibrary loan, document delivery, public services and librarianship in general. 9. Participate in library and university activities. 10. Work well with a culturally diverse client population. 11. Perform other duties as assigned based on library needs, including night/weekend work. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA accredited Master's degree (MLS) or its equivalent; experience with an integrated library system; knowledge of and experience with electronic information resources and current information technology; the ability to work effectively with library staff, university faculty members, students and people from the local community; strong oral and written communication skills. Ability and willingness to provide unscheduled support for Access Services as need dictates. Desired: Experience in interlibrary loan specifically using OCLC interlibrary loan, ILLiad and Ariel/Odyssey; college/research library experience including professional experience; supervisory experience; experience providing reference/information services; experience delivering information literacy instruction; an additional advanced degree in a subject area, especially in sciences or social sciences.
