Head of Reference Services

Enfield Public Library Do you have what it takes to be the Enfield Public Library’s Head of Reference Services?  There have been a lot of changes at the Enfield Public Library over the last year and we are looking to round out our team.  Are you a leader who is passionate about customer service and on top of the latest trends in libraries and technology?  If so, you might be who we are looking for.  The ability to work well with the rest of the team is a must. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Provide outstanding customer service to the residents of Enfield. You will be in charge of a busy Reference Services Department.  This includes being the primary Reference Librarian, as well as supervising a full time Reference Assistant, a Reference Page and a crew of part time Reference Librarians. Management of the Reference Services budget. Collection Development, including databases, periodicals and adult books. Assists in planning and implementing programs and public relations activities. Facilitate book discussion group. Primary instructor for our ongoing technology classes. Assist with maintenance of Website and social media. Collects and prepares statistical data and prepares reports for Library Director. In charge of library in absence of Director and Assistant Director. Stays current in library and technology trends. Develop and maintain promotional and instructional materials for Reference Services. Typical hours: 35 hour work week, one evening, weekends as needed. General qualifications:  An MLS is required.  You must have at least 2 years’ experience in a professional library position.  Supervisory experience is preferred.  You will be part of a team, so working well with others is critical.  It will be equally important to be motivated and self-directed enough to work without close supervision.
