Part-Time Creative Technologies Library Assistant

The Wallingford Public Library seeks an approachable and enthusiastic Creative Technologies Library Assistant to introduce participatory learning to adults and teens in the Collaboratory, our new 2,400-square-foot makerspace. The Creative Technologies Library Assistant will teach patrons how to use makerspace, digital media, and digitization equipment and software as well as how to access the library’s digital collections. Duties:Instruct patrons in the use of equipment and technology in the Collaboratory, including but not limited to laser and vinyl cutters, CNC machines, 3D printers, computerized sewing machines, and music and video production tools. Conduct one-on-one training about the library’s digital collection platforms, including OverDrive, Zinio, and hoopla. Troubleshoot Collaboratory equipment. Recommend new equipment and services for the Collaboratory. Requirements: Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Public library experience preferred. Proficiency in a wide variety of software and hardware, including Apple products and Adobe Creative Cloud. Experience with popular maker equipment. Proven record of outstanding customer service to a wide range of ages and abilities. Currency and fluency in technology and maker trends.  Eagerness and flexibility to learn emerging technologies in a continuously evolving environment. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a small team. Teaching experience a plus. Hours:16-19.5 hours weekly, including weekday afternoons and evenings and rotating Saturdays. Compensation:$22/hour To apply: Send a cover letter, resume, and contact information for three references via email to Janet Flewelling, Head of Emerging & Creative Technologies, at jflewelling@lioninc.org on or before the closing date of Friday, June 3, 2016.
