Library Digital Support Specialist *UPDATED*

The Arnold Bernhard Library at Quinnipiac University seeks a motivated and service-oriented individual for the position of Library Digital Support Specialist.  This position provides support, user interface maintenance and trouble-shooting for library digital services, which are the hardware and library systems, including but not limited to the discovery layer, ILS, EZProxy, and LibGuides. In addition to providing this support, the position requires managing multiple, simultaneous projects for the improvement of the library’s digital services. The position also provides backup supervision and assistance to the Access Services department as needed. Additional digital or access services duties may be assigned in support of the library’s priorities and appropriate to the successful candidate’s strengths and expertise. A high degree of flexibility and openness to change are essential, as is a commitment to reflective practice and continuous improvement and the ability to work autonomously. In this position, you will frequently need to explain technical concepts and processes in non-technical terms for a variety of audiences.THIS IS A FULL-TIME POSITION WITH THE FOLLOWING WORK HOURS:  1pm to 9pm, Monday through Thursday, 9am – 5pm Friday during the academic year.  Occasional weekend hours may be required.  Intersession and summer hours vary. This position is the ranking staff member in the absence of a full-time librarian. RESPONSIBILITIES: Proactively identify and lead initiatives to troubleshoot library resource access problems. Collaborate with a team as well as partners outside the library to accomplish objectives. Serve as primary contact for communication with library system vendors. Plan, manage, implement and measure the success of multiple, simultaneous projects for the improvement of the library’s digital services. Participate in the design and creation of visual materials and user interfaces to provide and promote library services.  These include but are not limited to instructional videos, web-based announcements, instructions, and guides. Act as the supervisor of part-time employees and students in Access Services in the absence of full-time staff and perform circulation/reserve duties on an as-needed basis. This position is the ranking staff member in the absence of a full-time librarian. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required.  Associate’s degree and relevant experience or training may substitute. Strong customer service orientation; excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. Minimum 3 years’ experience with current library systems, software and platforms (discovery layer, ILS, proxy server, research guide/pathfinder software). Demonstrated ownership of projects and deliverables, and ability to meet deadlines.The successful candidate will possess strong customer service skills, have a working knowledge of web programming languages used in library applications, and will be able to prioritize and keep the big picture in mind while attending to details.  S/he will also have a deep curiosity around current products, trends, software, platforms and hardware and will possess outstanding project management and communication skills. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Recent academic library experience.Experience using HTML5, CSS, and programming with APIs within library applications.  Experience with creating library video tutorials.
