Library Development Manager

EC Scranton Memorial Library. The E.C. Scranton Memorial Library provides public library service to the Town of Madison, CT.  We are a 501c(3) organization governed by a volunteer-member Board of Trustees.  The Town provides approximately 85% of our total operating budget while the remainder is funded primarily through fundraising, grants and donations.   In an effort to increase our ability to raise private funds, we have a new opportunity for a Full-Time Library Development Manager. $42,000/year 40 hours/week Position Summary:The Library Development Manager will create and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to increase financial support of the E.C. Scranton Memorial Library. The Development Manager works under the supervision of the Library Director.  Responsibilities include raising additional revenue for the library by developing and implementing fundraising campaigns and events of various size and reach, building and improving relationships with current and prospective donors, maintaining the donor database and producing reports as requested, overseeing the successful implementation and completion of the Annual Fund Appeal, and working with the Library Director and Board of Trustees to develop, implement and oversee annual fundraising goals.  Along with annual fundraising efforts to support the Library’s operating budget, the Development Manager will be responsible for working with the Board of Trustees to achieve agreed upon revenue goals for capital campaigns. This position includes paid vacation, sick, and personal time and an optional 401K retirement plan.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit financial development including capital fundraising, donor cultivation, and event planning. Current knowledge of development principles and practices. Proficiency with fundraising software and computer applications such as Microsoft Office. Experience creating marketing materials and performing community outreach. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Can interact courteously and professionally with all Library stakeholders. Understanding of public libraries and their role in the community a plus.
