Library Director

New Milford Public Library.  Salary: $68,000 to $75,000.  The New Milford Public Library seeks an innovative director with superb communications skills and strong public service orientation.  The Director is responsible for all phases of library operations including budget development and management, purchasing, supervision of staff of 25, and oversight of building/grounds. The Library serves a community of 29,000 in Connecticut’s geographically largest town.  The ideal candidate will hold a graduate level degree in Library and Information Science or a related field as well as a clear, creative vision for the role of the public library, a deep understanding of the changing nature of information technology, services and resources coupled with a collaborative, approachable personal style that will develop effective working relationships with Board members, staff, governmental groups and the general public. They will manage library services and operations within goals, guidelines and policies established by the Board of Trustees; make recommendations to the BoT concerning the hiring of  office and professional staff; ensure  the library is responsive to the community’s needs and be a major contributor to the recently appointed Town “Library Modernization Committee” which is tasked with the development and implementation of the library strategic plan by advocating for appropriate expansion of services, facilities and staffing.  The Director reports to the Library Board and works closely with Friends and volunteers.  For full consideration send your resume (PDF format please) and cover letter to NMPLSearch@gmail.com no later than November 30, 2015The New Milford Public Library is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
