Role purpose
Position is responsible for:
Assisting Adult Services Manager to assess, review, and prioritize adult services in response to changing members' needs.
Ensuring
consistently excellent user experiences for all adult reference and
information services at the information desk, online, and on the phone.
Assisting Adult Services Manager to assess, review, and prioritize staff professional training needs.
Leading
reference staff, Customer Service Officer and volunteers with a focus
on the creation of a high performing, cohesive, and well coordinated team that embodies our organizational values and delivers exceptional service at all times.
Providing leadership in Adult Services projects as assigned by Adult Services Manager.

Responsibilities
Deliverables
Consistently provides exceptional information and reference services at the information desk.
Ensures information desk is effectively staffed by well-prepared team that delivers excellent services.
Assists the Adult Services Manager in providing ongoing training, instructional aids, and support of all Adult Services staff.
Provides expert advice for selection of databases and reference tools.
Develops new classes in line with Adult Services Team's changing focus areas.
Participate in and contribute to Library programs, outreach events and initiatives.
Lead and participate in professional in house learning
Accountabilities
Professional leadership of Information Desk staff.
Ownership of the delivery of excellent Information Desk services.
Participation in collection development for new materials in all formats and the deletion process.
Effective
collaboration and engagement with other departments to enable delivery
of seamless services to whole community (on site, online and by
telephone)
Responsible for keeping up-to-date with new tools and trends in library services
Serve on library committees or projects as needed

Salary
$50,000-65,000
Requirements
MLIS Required
35 hour work week, including one night + Sat or Sun, depending on schedule needs.
4-6 hours at the Information Desk per work day.
