Director of Library Research Services & Collections – Trinity College





Trinity College seeks an innovative and forward-thinking librarian to fill a key leadership position in its newly merged Library and Information Technology Services organization.  This is an opportunity to participate in shaping the services and organizational structure of two highly regarded departments that continually seek to enhance their services and support institutional priorities.

The position reports to the Vice President of Information Services and Chief Information Officer. The incumbent serves on the Library and Information Services Division senior leadership team and contributes to division wide strategic planning, policy development, assessment, and resource management. 

Primary responsibilities include:

Leads, develops and supports the department’s staff, services and programs.
Cultivates collaborations with academic department and other campus partners.
Participates in designing flexible, innovative and student-focused spaces in the Library.
Manages the Library’s material budget and oversees collection development and retention.
Assists in instruction, research services, content selection, assessment and outreach initiatives.
Compiles and communicates reports, statistics, and recommendations for assigned areas.

Minimum Qualifications

MLS from an ALA accredited program; advanced degree in a liberal arts discipline desirable 
Five years of progressively responsible leadership and supervisory experience in research education and collection development; proven ability of budget and project management
Excellent written and oral communication; commitment to team-development and collaboration
Demonstrated knowledge of current practices in research education, collection development and the design of learning environments
Analytic, strategic and innovative thinking skills; creative, engaged and committed to outreach
