Library Assistant - Manchester Public Library. Part-time. $11.00 per hour/6-10 hours per week. Evening and Sunday Hours. Summary of Position: A person in this library position typically works in circulation under the direction of the division, section or facility administrator performing all circulation related tasks ranging in complexity from performing clerical tasks to providing reader advisory services and instructing customers in the use of the library and its search tools. This is a high customer contact position answering the telephone, directing calls, providing reader advisory services, directing less senior staff, volunteers and responding to customer concerns and complaints. Sunday hours 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Requirements: Graduation from high school or equivalent and proficiency in working with office computers and/or terminals and related library circulation applications. Associates Degree and prior library experience is preferred. Ability to use photocopy machine, microfilm and microfiche machines and other commonly available library equipment. Examination Will Consist of: Written Examination (Weight = 100%, Passing Score = 70%) & *Keyboard Assessment (Pass/Fail, Passing Score = 30 w.p.m.). *Only top scorers based on written exam score will be invited to the typing test.
