Digital Services Librarian/Officer - New Canaan Library

Role Purpose: The Digital Service Librarian is responsible for assisting with the planning and implementation of technology and works closely with the Head of Digital Services developing innovative solutions to providing digital services to the New Canaan community. This is full time position requiring weekends. Responsibilities: Accountabilities: Under the Guidance of the Head of Digital Serivces this position is accountable for: Monitoring and maintaining all aspects of the Library’s technology infrastructure; Maintaining and troubleshooting the Library’s network and ILS; Managing and teaching in the Library’s MakerLab; Researching and implementing new digital services; Maintaining and troubleshooting all hardware and software; Maintaining the Library’s Website including design changes and updating content; Active Participation in the Website committee; Production of weekly newsletter and Library eblasts; Oversight of the Library’s social media presence; Compilation of and effective presentation of broad array of statistical data including that relating to digital services; Staffing IT help desk and assisting the public with computer related questions; Working 5 hours per week on the Information Service Desk; Developing and implementing programming as it relates to Digital Services often in conjunction with other Library Departments; Oversight and maintenance of audiovisual equipment and including broadcasting station; Assisting with in technology planning; Instructing staff and public in the use of various digital technologies and conducts formal classes for the public; Other projects as needed. Deliverables: Integrated and streamlined technology infrastructure; User friendly, up-to-date website and newsletter; Active and growing social media presence; Rapid responses to help desk requests; Streamlined and comprehensive statistical reports on major library metrics; Streamlined, efficient and integrated interface to digital services; Effective support to Digital Services team and wider organization. Key Functional Relationships: Head of Digital Services, Adult Services Team, Collection Development Team, Teen Services, Children’s Services. Qualifications / Experience: Accredited MLS, or equivalent degree (Visual Arts, Computer Science); Understanding of computer networks (LAN, wireless, virtual); Knowledge of Integrated Library Systems; Knowledge of computer databases and statistical analysis; Knowledge of Web design platforms (Drupal, Wordpress); Knowledge of Windows, MAC and Linux operating systems; Knowledge of mobile devices and tablets. Salary range: $40,000 – $55,000 (Work week Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday –Saturday).
