Head of Children's and Teen Services - Berlin-Peck Memorial Library. The Town of Berlin is seeking applicants for a full time Head of Children’s and Teen Services position, at the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library (BPML), which is a Mid Manager Union, salary grade B ($54,788 annually) position. Applications will be accepted at the Town Manager’s Office, Berlin Town Hall, 240 Kensington Road, Berlin, CT 06037 until 12:00 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2014. Items to submit: cover letter, resume, employment application, and answers to the following: How do you see the library’s services to children changing in the next five years and why? Name one service you feel BPML should be offering to children that is not currently being offered and one legacy service you would propose eliminating. What things would you do to build a stronger relationship with the schools located in the library’s service area? A Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited school, a minimum of three years of related experience as a public librarian, and supervisory experience is required. Applicant must possess the ability to communicate clearly, pleasantly and courteously in both written and oral contexts, must be proficient in Internet, Windows, Microsoft Office applications, email, and have the ability to troubleshoot computer and printer problems, and must have knowledge of the philosophy and techniques of public library services and the ability to stay current with new library developments and trends in public libraries. Demonstrated knowledge of Library materials and resources, familiarity with popular reading materials and genre collections is also necessary along with strong customer service skills.
