Library Director - Kent Memorial Library in Kent, CT is seeking a community-oriented, adaptive and technically proficient Director to lead our growing and progressive library into the exciting next generation - Library 2.0. This position is a unique opportunity to work in the wonderful town of Kent with a dynamic board and creative team of staff and volunteers, managing the diverse operating and planning efforts to get us there. As information science evolves, so will the needs and efforts of our library; the position must stay on top of and integrate new technologies and networking trends while offering diverse programs and culturally rich and educational offerings. The library is a private institution that serves as the Town’s public library. It is a popular destination; our traffic in the past twelve months exceeded 38,000, with annual circulation of approximately 16,100 for adults and 17,200 for children. Last year we presented over 330 educational and interactive programs for children and adults, including a lecture series with nationally-recognized speakers, book discussions, poetry writing, self-help and language classes, authors’ readings, films, art exhibits and special vacation programs ranging from fun reading to Quiz Nights to maintaining an earth-friendly garden. Kent, CT is located in the scenic northwest corner of Litchfield County and is ready to take on the future! The ideal candidate will have the background afforded by Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degrees in Library or Information Science from an ALA accredited college or university. Five years of professional public library experience with demonstrated proficiency in the above skills and capabilities as well as three in a supervisory capacity are preferred.
