Part Time Reference Librarian - Killingly Public Library.
Supervisor: Head of Reference. Hours of Work: Tuesday or Wednesday
evening from 3:00-7:00 & every other Saturday 9:30-3:30 from
mid-September through mid-June. Primary Functions: Creates positive
experiences for library customers by performing professional library
work including reference service, reader/media advisory and collection
maintenance. Staffs busy reference desk serving a diverse clientele of
all ages. Provides assistance to customers with varying levels of
literacy and technical abilities. Promotes community outreach and
programming. Performs duties in other library areas and participates in
library special projects as needed. Qualifications, Education,
Experience, and Skills Required: MLIS, completed or in progress. Strong
commitment to public service. Strong reference (both print and
electronic) and reader's advisory skills. Technical expertise using
databases, digital resources, and other software. Experience using
integrated library system software. Ability to apply principles of
library science to solve practical problems. Ability to identify and
comprehend patron needs quickly and accurately. Excellent interpersonal
and communication skills. Experience with WordPress website software
desirable. This is a part-time, seasonal position mid-September through
mid-June with no benefits. Salary range is $19.00-23.00/hour
