Director of Library Services - Asnuntuck Community College. (12 Month, PL 20) ANTICIPATED STARTING DATE: May 1, 2012. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Masters Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited institution. 3-6 years related experience. 1 to 3 years of supervisory experience in a higher education environment. Demonstrated ability to perform and supervise full range of library services in a higher education environment. Command of current best practices in information literacy education and of traditional and emerging information resources. Demonstrated ability to train, supervise, and mentor staff. Ability to interact with and serve a diverse community of students, faculty, and community members. Excellent organizational, time management, written and oral communication skills. Commitment to the community college mission. Exceptions to the degree requirements may be made for compelling reasons. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Community college library experience. Knowledge of Media Services is a plus. Demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships with faculty regarding acquisitions and information literacy education. Ability to collaborate and function productively in a team atmosphere. Experience as a budget manager. Interest in internal marketing of library services and in seeking small grants to enhance those services. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Library Services is accountable for assuring effective and cost efficient library and media services to the academic, student and public groups served by the College. The Director advances the College’s learning mission through effective performance in these essential areas: Effective delivery of library and media services; Development and organization of the library’s resources; Evaluation, training, development and direction of library staff; Budget, fiscal and facilities management; Library assessment and evaluation. The Director of Media Services, who also serves as Director of the college radio station (WACC), reports to the Director of Library Services. MINIMUM SALARY: $62,218 approximate annual, plus excellent State benefits package.
