Children's Services Intern - Avon Free Public Library

Children's Services Intern - The Avon Free Public Library Children’s Room is seeking a creative, self-motivated college student to become a member of the Children’s Services team for a Spring Internship beginning in January, 2012. The position will allow the student to gain experience working in a brand new Children’s Library. The successful candidate will have a willingness to learn, a love of working with children and a passion for public service. This opportunity will give them valuable experience organizing and creating an inviting environment for Avon’s youth and will provide irreplaceable experience for their future endeavors. Intern will: Report to Children’s and Teen Services Manager; be evaluated by supervisor throughout the internship for school requirement; provide reference and reader’s advisory services; have opportunities to observe & conduct programs as well as participate in collection development with other children’s librarians. Library Science or LTA students preferred, Education students encouraged to apply. Prior experience working in childcare, child development, pre-school or Elementary Education is desirable. This student internship will be 10 - 15 hours a week with a flexible work schedule and will run the course of the Spring Semester. This is an unpaid internship.
