Technology Librarian - University of Bridgeport

Technology Librarian - University of Bridgeport. Summary: The Technology Librarian plays a leadership role in researching and implementing new technologies that position the Library for next generation excellence. This individual acts as application administrator for all relevant systems (including Voyager, Database providers, Turnitin) and is responsible for vendor liaison, trouble shooting, training, and budget oversight. Works closely with IT department. Collaborates with Instruction and Information Literacy Librarian to conceive and conduct instruction programs, including computer based tutorials, for Librarians, Faculty, and students. Duties & Responsibilities: Works closely with Director to lead UB Library into next generation technology platform. Maintains all current Library systems, including Voyager, Blackboard shells, Turnitin, Database providers. Oversees Web presence. Responsible for ensuring most effective access to all electronic resources, including implementation of open URL and link resolver products. As requested, delivers instructional modules in classroom and workshops to Faculty, staff and students. Creates computer based tutorials. Works closely on University committees and task teams to represent Library technology direction, and ensure it is aligned with administrative and instructional technologies. Provides management reports upon request. Supports all technology service requests from Library departments. Acts as Liaison with IT Department. Other work related duties as assigned by the Director. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (Necessary For Essential Duties.) Experience: (Specific, observable and linked to essential duties.) Masters Degree in Library or Information Science. Undergraduate degree/coursework in instructional technology or computer related subject strongly preferred. 2 years experience in providing technology support, including library systems, digital journal/book access and website maintenance, in an academic or special library. Demonstrated proficiency in technology concepts, including applications, Web development, systems administration and networking. Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Blackboard, Turnitin, Voyager, electronic whiteboards highly desirable. Understanding and experience in project management techniques. Ability to create electronic tutorials. Excellent communication skills, including speaking to groups. Demonstrated ability to work in teams, flexible and able to acquire new skills.
