Serials and Government Documents Librarian - (Assistant Librarian) The Ruth A. Haas Library at Western Connecticut State University is seeking innovative, forward-thinking, technology savvy applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Serials/Government Documents Librarian position that reports to the Director of Library Services. In collaboration with other library faculty, this position will be responsible for the library's serials and government documents collections and services. Responsibilities include serials strategic planning, managing an increasingly digital serials/government documents environment, applying information/database technologies to serials management, monitoring national and international serials trends, supervising assigned staff, collection development, participating in the general responsibilities of the Library Faculty including serving as liaison to designated academic departments and staffing the library?s general reference desk (including some evenings and weekends). Qualifications: Candidates must have a MLS degree from an ALA accredited program. Familiarity with serials trade, metadata standards, trends in scholarly communication, experience with software applications and information technologies, strong oral and written communication skills are required. Preferred qualifications include general reference experience in a college, university, or research library, demonstrated familiarity with database technologies, knowledge of integrated library systems, knowledge of mark-up languages (XML, HTML, etc.) and web design.
