Educational Assistant - Three Rivers Community College

Educational Assistant - (Librarian CCP 18), full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track. ANTICIPATED STARTING DATE: February 2007. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree in Library Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association; at least one year of professional experience. Exceptions to the degree requirements may be made for compelling reasons. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Under direction of the Director of Library Services, the incumbent will: (1) perform original and copy cataloging for print and non-print materials; (2) instruct and advise patrons on research and effective use of library resources; (3) develop and conduct instructional training sessions and collaborate with faculty to facilitate library information literacy instruction; (4) develop significant expertise in the use of the Endeavor's Voyager system including configuration of the cataloging module and development of policies and procedures; (5) contribute to the library's collection development and maintenance; (6) design and develop web pages; (7) and any other duties related to Library services assigned by the Director. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: The Educational Assistant (Librarian) will provide innovative leadership in the design, development, delivery and assessment of information literacy instruction across the curriculum using a variety of tools, techniques and instructional materials and will maintain statistics on these activities. The successful candidate will plan, develop and implement informational workshops and form collaborative ties with faculty and the WebCT Vista team under the direction of the Director of Library Services. Related duties will include complex reference services, collection development and maintenance, training and mentoring of part time staff members, supervision of student workers, and assistance with all combined service desk functions. All responsibilities will be facilitated at both the Mohegan campus and Thames campus and may also include evening and/or weekend assignments. In addition, the individual will be expected to attend and participate in convocation and commencement ceremonies, serve on committees and task forces, and participate in professional development activities. STARTING SALARY: $52,839 approximate annual.
